Native American artifacts stolen from a museum in Indio will soon be returned to their owners.
More than $140,000 worth of baskets, jewelry and pottery were taken from the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians Cultural Museum in Indio in 2005.
Steven Farmer, a Riverside County resident, pleaded guilty to receiving the stolen property and is now serving a 41 month sentence federal jail.
The FBI held a press conference Friday to discuss the recovery of the artifacts, some of which belonged to La Quinta resident, Jane Andade.
"They were always above the mantel, the fireplace, when I grew up. I always knew they came from my grandmother, my great-grandmother," Andade said.
The US district attorney says farmer stole the property to support his drug habit- he sold the artifacts for a mere $4,000.
